  • Since you don’t have a product involved–you become the product/brand and reputation in the eyes of prospects becomes crucial (word of mouth, reviews, perceived image).

  • Consistency of your efforts build online brand awareness, image and trust.
  • How you say something is more important than “what” you say (pay attention to tone and method of communication–the presentation).

This challenge dates back to my earlier days in radio, when I would consult with small business owners about how they can exceed the exposure of their competitors.

In many cases–the idea of sponsored radio show or :60 radio vignette featuring the owner hit a nerve.

I had many clients love the idea–but were mic shy. But we persisted and they soon began being known for their business.

This was a unique branding situation–because never before had a prospect commented on their ads, their voice or recognize them in grocery stores (after hearing them talking to someone–which actually happened) etc.

Today, with online streaming and podcasting–hosting your own weekly radio show is a brilliant idea whose time has come.
